Emma was Shanes only sibling.

The brother of a woman that died in a two-car crash is raising money to buy a headstone for his sister’s grave and to support her four children.

Emma Smith was involved in the incident on the A35 in West Dorset in October.

Dorset Police said the 37-year-old, from Bournemouth, was pronounced dead at the scene and a 35-year-old man from Poole is on police bail while enquiries continue.

Shane Morrison said finding out about her death was a shock.

“Emma was feisty but a big kid at heart” said Shane, 34, who found out about the incident on his way to work.

“I was in the car, my mum had tried to ring me about eight or nine times and I thought she was trying to get hold of me after getting back from holiday.

“When I answered I could hear it in her tone of voice and I thought it was about her being in hospital over the last couples of months.

“But, then she started to cry and she said ‘I don’t know how to tell you this but your sister passed away in a car crash.”

Shane described the next few hours as a blur and does not remember much about what he did.

“I think I told my husband and I must have rung my big boss at work to say that I wasn’t going to be in.”

Shane described Emma as a feisty woman and loving mother.

He said as siblings they were close growing up; “When something like this happens, you have all these flashbacks of things.

“It all just runs through your head, like bike rides together, your evenings down the river, sleepovers and we used to have these big Halloween parties.

“She was also incredibly kind and would have given you her last pound if she had it.”

Shane said the 37-year-old was a family orientated person who was also very close to her mother and grandmother.

The crash involving two BMWs, one white and one grey, happened near Askerswell between Dorchester and Bridport at about 00:05 BST.

A 28-year-old man from Plymouth was taken to hospital with life-changing injuries.

The force said a 35-year-old man from Poole, taken to hospital with minor injuries, had been arrested on suspicion of a driving offence.
