Boy, 17, arrested following death of elderly woman in Poole

A teenage boy has become the sixth person to be arrested on suspicion of the murder of an elderly woman who died after a suspected burglary.

Police officers were called to an address in Higher Blandford Road in Poole, Dorset, on 1 December after being alerted to the “sudden death” of a woman in her 80s.

Five people have already been arrested in connection with the incident and released on bail.

Now Dorset Police has confirmed a 17-year-old boy from Wimborne has also been arrested on suspicion of murder and burglary.

Previously police arrested a 32-year-old man from Verwood, Dorset, a 30-year-old man from Wimborne, Dorset, and a 16-year-old boy from Romsey, Hampshire, as well as a 22-year-old man from Wimborne and a 21-year-old man from Alderholt.

All were also arrested on suspicion of murder and burglary. The 17-year-old was also released on bail.

A force spokesman said that the death was being treated as “unexplained”.

“The six arrests have been made to assist officers in gathering as much information as they can, while providing legal protection to the individuals.
