Exeter City defender Johnly Yfeko faces more time on the sidelines after suffering a fresh injury.
The 22-year-old centre-back missed the second half of last season after a series of hamstring injuries.
He has played 11 times this campaign but the former Rangers defender injured an abductor muscle last week and has undergone a scan.
“It doesn’t look great,” Exeter City manager Gary Caldwell told BBC Radio Devon.
“It’s another huge frustration. We were going to start him again on Saturday at Bolton and that wasn’t to be because of the injury.
“We’ll see where it is and we’ll again do the best we can to support him and get him back to fitness as quick as possible.
“It will be way into the new year. Whatever it is, we’ll support him and give him everything he needs for him to come back and get playing again.
“It’s a huge frustration that we get him up to speed, get him a few games and he just can’t get over that hurdle of taking the load.”
