Truro City manager John Askey says he is pleased with how his side reacted after Braintree Town goalkeeper Mason Terry scored a stoppage-time equaliser in the National League Cup quarter-final.
Terry went up for a corner in the fifth minute of stoppage time, and after getting his head to it, scored with a follow-up strike after a goalmouth scramble.
It made the score 1-1 at the end of normal time, but Truro went on to win the penalty shootout 3-0 to progress to the semi-finals.
“It’s unusual to actually come up and get their head on it,” Askey told BBC Radio Cornwall when asked about goalkeepers going up for corners.
“Usually they go up and they never seem to get on the end of it.
“The only one I can remember is Jimmy Glass who scored for Carlisle and kept them up in league football.
“But it was a really good header by him and I think he followed the rebound in as well.
“You’re thinking when that happens that maybe it’s not going to be our night, but I thought the penalties that we took were excellent.”
