Alex Mitchell would consider permanent Plymouth Argyle switch

Mitchell has been a constant in Argyle’s central defence as his partners have changed, with Julio Pleguezuelo, Brendan Galloway and Mathias Ross all suffering injuries at some point.

But he says he has relished the trust shown by head coach Tom Cleverley, who has helped improve his game.

“I feel like I’ve got a responsibility here. Playing every week, you’re trying to drive standards in the building,” said Mitchell.

“I think that he’s definitely worked on my positioning off the ball, the technicalities of that. But I’d like to have definitely improved on the ball here.

“I’m playing left side now, I think if you asked me two years ago in Scotland or Lincoln (about) playing left side, I’d probably have had a sleepless night, but I think I’ve even played off the left of a three in a couple of games this season.

“I do back myself and I think the gaffer has given me that confidence and has always been honest with me because I remember I didn’t I didn’t play Huddersfield and I just knew I wasn’t up to standard before that game.

“So, I always respect that and it’s very good of him to be like that.”
