A hospital maternity team is celebrating being recognised for its quality of patient care, particularly improvements to postnatal services.
The Care Quality Commission 2025 Maternity Survey found those giving birth at the Royal United Hospitals Bath NHS Foundation Trust (RUH) felt they were “listened to, respected and supported” throughout their treatment.
Director of midwifery, Zita Martinez, said this year the team had focused on postnatal care and that it was “especially pleasing” to see improvements in this area.
The annual survey showed the RUH performing better or much better than most hospitals in England across 28 of the key questions.
The RUH scored particularly highly in areas such as giving women enough time and support during antenatal checkups and staff communication and teamwork.
The trust also received “strong” results for mental health support during pregnancy and for respecting decisions about feeding babies.
Ms Martinez said: “We’re delighted to see such positive feedback from the people we care for.
“It reflects the dedication and compassion of our maternity team, who work tirelessly to provide safe, personalised care for every family.”
She added that although the results were “reassuring”, they would continue to learn and improve “so that every experience is the best it can be”.
