Bins out an hour earlier in new Torridge waste rules

A council has told residents to get their bins out an hour earlier on collection days.

Torridge District Council in Devon said all household waste and recycling must now be ready by 06:00 on collection days instead of 07:00 as before.

It said the change matches new crew schedules and aims to make collections more reliable and residents were urged to put their bins out the night before to avoid being missed.

Councillor Chris Leather, who leads on operational services, said the “simple step helps our crews work efficiently, reduces the risk of missed collections and keeps our local area clean and well-serviced”.

The council reminded people to leave bins, boxes and bags in clear view at the kerbside, and to secure them properly to stop rubbish blowing away or attracting animals.

“We appreciate the continued support from residents in helping us make these services as effective as possible,” said Leather.
