Erin Osborne: Former Australia spinner named Somerset Women head coach

In 2023, Osborne became head coach of the club – which she had captained during her playing career – and moved up to their female programme lead earlier this year.

“Erin was the standout candidate for the position, and her knowledge and experience, aligned with her drive to succeed, really resonated with the panel, and will stand the club in good stead moving forward,” said Somerset director of cricket Andy Hurry.

“Her coaching path to date has seen Erin gain a thorough understanding of how to construct effective programmes, inspire players, and improve performance across female and male pathways. These traits will prove invaluable as we look to build on the inaugural year of professional women’s cricket.”

Somerset finished bottom of the Women’s Blast table this season, with one win in their 14 matches, and fifth in the One-Day Cup League One table to miss out on the semi-finals of the competition.

England’s Charlie Dean and Dani Gibson have both signed new deals to stay with the club in 2026.
