A councillor on Exeter City Council has quit the Conservatives and joined Reform UK.
Alison Sheridan said she wanted to see “clear decisive action on a host of major issues”.
Sheridan will be the second Reform councillor on the city council which is currently run by Labour.
Elections for a third of the seats on Exeter City Council are due to take place in May 2026.
Sheridan, who represents St Loyes, said: “I am joining Reform UK as we need clear decisive action on a host of major issues, particularly illegal immigration which places pressure on communities and erodes our identity as a nation.”
She said she would “continue to voice the common sense concerns of residents” and highlighted her work campaigning against the controversial low traffic neighbourhood scheme in Exeter that forced a council U-turn.
“I believe that Reform UK is the answer that both Exeter and our country need,” she said.
In October the councillor was cleared of accusations against her including bullying, harassment and bringing the council into disrepute by her attendance at a protest against the use of a hotel to house asylum seekers.
