A free one-day festival celebrating women is taking place at Exeter Phoenix on Saturday 14 March following International Women’s Day on Saturday 8 March.

The programme includes music from the Newtown Roots Band and Trikkeballakke with a workshop and choir led by Wren Music.

There will be dance, voice, drumming and meditation workshops as well as panel discussions and a screening of a short film about the impact of the Gaza war on women.

There will also be children’s activities and stalls by women’s organisations.

The festival is being presented by Devon United Women in collaboration with Multilingua Devon and host Exeter Phoenix.

It is being held in memory of Josie Sutcliffe, co-founder and co-director of Dreadnought South West.

International Women’s Day is celebrated around the world in March each year. It focusses on women’s rights, gender inequality, reproductive rights and violence and abuse against women.

This year’s International Women’s Festival takes place in Exeter from 11am-4pm on Saturday 14 March 2026 at Exeter Phoenix. It is free to attend.
