Man charged with conspiracy to import Class A drug

A man has been charged with conspiracy to import a Class A drug, the National Crime Agency (NCA) said.

Earlier this year the NCA said it was investigating a conspiracy to smuggle £18.4m worth of cocaine into the UK on an inflatable boat in September 2024, which involved a 28-mile (45km) sea chase from off the coast of Newquay.

The NCA said Patrick Tsang, 52, of Cosham, Portsmouth was taken into custody at a local police station following his arrest on 30 October.

It added Mr Tsang, who appeared at Portsmouth Magistrates’ Court on Friday charged with conspiracy to import a Class A drug, did not enter a plea.

He was remanded in custody to appear at the court on 24 November.

Searches at an address in Cosham and another in Southsea, Portsmouth, have concluded, the NCA said.
