An inquest has found the death of John Henry Oates, known as Harry, was caused by a low-hanging cable which electrocuted him while he was running, ITV West Country reports. The 29-year-old had been living in Bristol when he died while visiting his parents near Kendal in Cumbria in October 2023.

Some disruption was caused by flooding in Chard, the Chard & Ilminster News reports. Roads were blocked by flooding and fallen trees while some cars also got stuck in flood water.

A mysterious streak of light spotted in the sky above Britain was most likely caused by a Chinese rocket, according to Gloucestershire Live.
