Sam Parkin: Final Score pundit on Wrexham’s form and West Brom’s ‘perilous position’

At the bottom of the Championship, strugglers Leicester and West Bromwich Albion both failed to win again.

Albion, who were beaten by Coventry, are winless in their past nine league games, and the Foxes, who drew 2-2 at Stoke, are winless in their past seven.

Both sides sit precariously at the bottom of the table. Leicester are currently 22nd, one place and one point behind the Baggies, with a four-point gap then to fifth-from-bottom Blackburn Rovers.

Parkin: “I’ve been surprised by both of their plights. Leicester have not been helped by the points deduction but they’ve still had enough games to accrue more points to see them in a better position than they are now.

“I thought it was still a positive result for Leicester, a positive point despite being pegged back late on.

“They need to stop conceding goals – that’s now a minimum of two they’ve conceded in each of their past six games. They’re shipping too many goals and that’s one thing that you won’t associate with a Gary Rowett team, so I’m sure he’ll improve them defensively in time to get enough points to stay in the division.

“I think they’ve got the players in the squad to improve and escape relegation this year. I wouldn’t be surprised if they did it comfortably, but they need some results quickly to gain some momentum.

“For West Brom, I think it’s a more precarious position because they’ve already changed manager once and not had the upturn.

“It’s worrying times. Eric Ramsay has improved them defensively in the past few games, but obviously against the leading side in the division that was too tall an order today.

“There have been a few games where they’ve failed to score and that’s a big problem if they’re looking to win matches in the weeks ahead to get themselves out of trouble.”
