Thieves target unoccupied Cornwall homes of small business owners

Police have linked a spate of burglaries which targeted the homes of small business owners while people were at work.

Devon and Cornwall Police said thefts have been reported from the unoccupied properties in Bodmin, Launceston and Bude “over the past few days”.

Det Con Harry Mills said the force believes an organised crime group is targeting the addresses, taking safes, jewellery and cash.

He said police were patrolling the areas and urged residents to “remain vigilant, report any suspicious activity and review home security arrangements”.

Mills added: “Thieves have gained entry by forcing their way through the rear of properties and thorough searches have been conducted to locate gold, concealed cash, and jewellery.

“Safes have also been targeted and removed from properties.”

Anyone with information has been asked to contact police.
