Taking photos of the landscape has become “addictive” for Weather Watcher Liz Brady who loves sharing images of the changing weather in North Devon.

She said it has become part of her routine and helped her following a cancer diagnosis and treatment this year as she enjoys takes photographs of the weather conditions whilst she is out.

Liz enjoys getting her photographs shown on the BBC and said: “I decided to give it a go just to see if I could get one on the telly really.”

She said the first photo which was shown on television was a “great Weather Watchers picture”, featuring a morning sunrise she spotted at the quay at Appledore and said “the sky was pink and orange and beautiful”.

Liz became a Weather Watcher after friends encouraged her to send her photos in.

She said: “I found myself without a dog after a long period of being a dog walker.

“I’d always taken photos when I was out walking, but probably more of the dog. I couldn’t stop taking photos and I love where I live.”

She said getting out to take a daily photo has helped her through her illness even when going out on a daily walk “has been hard” sometimes.

Wrapped up in wintry gloves David Braine is on the left of the shot as Liz talks to him about her love of photography. They are walking on a sandy beach and footprints can be seen near them.

She said it is part of “keeping normal” even when she has felt unwell after treatment when she has headed outside and sat down near the car and taken her picture.

Liz said: “I’ve tried to continue working, tried to continue doing a daily walk, tried to continue doing the things I enjoy, getting my photos on the TV.”

She is part of the community of Weather Watchers which celebrates its tenth anniversary this year.
